Wednesday Prep Lead
Every Round of Friendship begins long before anyone reaches the street. It begins on a Wednesday afternoon, in a kitchen, with bread, a flask of something hot, and a few friends working side by side. Before we make room for our friends on the pavements of London, we make room for one another here. Could you be the one to hold that afternoon together?
The role
This is a voluntary, unpaid role, and a joyful one. Each Wednesday from 3pm to 6pm you will lead the preparation of the sandwiches and hot drinks that go out on our Rounds of Friendship, welcoming and coordinating the helpers who come to prepare alongside you so that the kitchen is a happy, shared place. There is no payslip here; the reward is community, friendship, and a real part in feeding the most vulnerable people in our city.
Key Tasks
- Lead the preparation of sandwiches and hot drinks every Wednesday, 3pm to 6pm
Welcome and coordinate the helpers who come to prepare with you
Keep a simple tally of what will be needed for the following week
Let the coordinator know promptly if anything is broken, running low, or out of order
Clean everything down after use and leave the space ready for next time
Qualifications
[ ] A Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate is essential.
[ ] Reliable, warm and organised, with a gift for bringing people together.
[ ] Able to commit to most Wednesdays. We also warmly welcome you to bring a "shadow", a second person who learns the ropes alongside you, so there is always cover if you cannot make it.
Commitment
Every Wednesday, 3pm to 6pm, at the London Jesuit Centre, 114 Mount Street. We ask for a commitment to most Wednesdays, with a shadow to share the role so that the round never goes without.
How to apply
Please fill out our contact form, selecting the option "Talent Sharing", attaching your CV and writing a few words about why you would like to help us. Be as descriptive as you can, and do ask any questions you may have. We will get back to you as soon as possible for an informal chat. The deadline to apply is 30 September 2026. A place at the table starts in the kitchen; come and lead it.
